Objective:	Students will be able to determine an author's point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how the author acknowledges and responds to conflicting evidence or viewpoints.
Warm-Up:	Go over the Analyzing Argument Scavenger Hunt	Standards Addressed: RI. 8.1. and RI. 8.6.
Classwork:	Argument Pre-Assessment Students will read and annotate the two argumentative texts titled: How Homework Benefits Students and Down with Homework	Standards Addressed: RI. 8.6 and RI. 8.8.
