Objective:
Students will be able to determine an author's point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how the author acknowledges and responds to conflicting evidence or viewpoints.

Students will be able to delineate and evaluate an argument and its specific claims by assessing whether the reasoning is sound, and evidence is relevant / sufficient.

Classwork:
  1. Model how to effectively analyze how strong an overall argument is / model how to write one.
  2. Students will read and annotate the nonfiction article titled “Down with Homework.”

RI. 8.6 and RI. 8.8.
Homework:
Finish reading/annotations PRIOR to tomorrow’s class!
